Haswell Overclock Thread

oh ok, well asus it does. but i thought it was a power state of the cpu not the mobo.

it might do,not sure on haswell, but a fixed cpu voltage on gigabyte = no throttle at idle

your ok with it set to normal, auto or using offset

idk haswell well enough tbh,but they don't change much from ivy

EDIT: double checked on mine,no cpu voltage throttle at idle with fixed cpu v

noobftw idle is 1.210v so I think you need to set to normal in cpu v in the bios then it will unlock dvid or adaptive voltage

then its a case of finding the right llc level and dvid amount

what are you guys using for stress testing haswell, i have been using the latest version of aida 64 and am now stable with max temps of 85c under load at 4.4ghz 1.25volts but as soon as i run prime 95 version 27.9 build 1 i get a bluescreen within 3 seconds, funny thing is the temps were only at a max of 65 in prime yet it crashed, is this just incompatible software or a bad overclock

They stress different things depending on the type of CPU instructions. In the past I've been prime stable for 6 hours, and yet playing Crysis for 10 mins would give a crash. Other times I've had no problems at all and failed Prime95 after 30 mins...

Got one of these 4770k chips coming what can i expect under water lads with a Gigabyte UDH4 and some Corsair 2400mhz ram?

Im looking for 4600mhz to be honest :| Willing to pump in 1.3v or so to get it as well.

im just going to take notice of aida 64 then, sod prime95, from what iv gathered rofflay it totally depends on if you get a decent chip or not haha, fingers crossed a, mines in the lower 50% quality :(

Id say you have a good chance of that

I really hope so as im currently using a 5 month old setup including 4700mhz on this 3570k and its IMC has no issues with 2400mhz ram 11-22-11-30-1T either. It is risky but im being given a one off chance to sell this entire case and change from i5 Ivy to i7 Haswell at a cost of £300 which includes £200 worth of watercooling kit and moving from i5 to i7 so its a no brainer

I might need some cleaning paste and DSR abuse though to beat my Ivy.Should i be looking at batch numbers then? I was thinking of trying 4600 1.3v and see if it posts and decide on DSR from there.I can clean the paste off and return it to any online retailer right? What is OCUK's stance on running the silicon lotto? Im guessing they frown upon it?

L311B515 is the batch no of my 4770k recently bought from oc'uk, running at 4.8 ghz with a matched cpu cache ratio (uncore). Seems very stable at these settings with 1.225 vcore, stress tested with Aida, OCCT and P95, it gets a little toasty in OCCT linpack test but otherwise temps are ok. Played 3 hours of Assassin's Creed 3 yesterday without any problems. With a bit more tweaking I'm sure 5 ghz isn't too optimistic. Currently running memory at defaults of 1866 MHz, 9,10,9,27 : 1T (8 GB Corsair Vengeance pro) hoping to clock memory up a bit from this.

Trfc @150 no boot despite increasing vdimm to 1.6. Booted ok at 200 at DDR 2000. Currently running super pi at 2133, couldn't get 2200 or 2400 to boot, will try later with higher vdimm. May have to reduce cpu cache ratio a bit for the higher memory frequencies?

Has anyone got their 4770k hooked upto a H100i? If so what are your core temps and water temps at various loads / stress tests?

4.5Ghz
VCore 1.25
VRIN 1.9
(can't remember VCache)

Idle ~31
Aida ~80
P95 ~75-80
OCCT ~ 75
OCCT + AVX Linpack 90+
Transcoding video ~68

In all of this my H100i water temp never exceeds 34.5degs which seems a bit low to me, it has a max swing of only about 6 degrees depending on the load.

Also I'm concerned the OCCT Linpack is bombing out at only 40 seconds into the test because temps get so high. I was initially running an offset voltage of 1.1 so ~2.2vcore under load but with OCCT + AVX Linpack running it pulls 1.32vcore and shoots straight to 95 degrees after 40 seconds bombing out the test.

It otherwise appears to be a stable clock but I'm concerned about temps, and I'm going to look to change back to offset voltage again.

Yes, the core temps and volts I posted on the 1st page of this thread are all on a H100i. OP and 4 or 5 posts down.
