Haswell temps

i want to get a haswell but people have been reporting bad batch's that overheat, has this been fixed yet.

Correct me if I'm wrong I thought all Haswell 4770k had heat issues? When you overclock them Iddon't think it was down to a batch of them

My 4670k is at 4.4ghz, topping at 73 when running Prime95, that looks good considering that im using 25 quid cooler (212 evo). So im happy that I bought it ;)

Apparently the new ivy-e is soldered. The issue as far as I can recall was that the new 3d transistors and small process made the ivy and haswell unsuitable for soldering - to high risk of breaking something. That issue must be resolved if the ivy-e is returning to soldered ihs.

Also, there is no cheap thermal paste on the ivy and haswell chips - the tim is good - it's the gap between the ihs and the chip that causes the heat issues.

Any news if Intel will fix this problem at all? I.e soldering the lid instead of using cheap thermal paste.

nope, they want you to buy 2011 socket

and yes ivy-e is soldered which throws the (can't use solder due to 3d transistor) excuse out of the window

ivy and haswell use paste to limit the overclock and make 2011 cpus worth buying for faster speeds. I'm considering selling my new haswell for an ivy-e, depends on how much i'll lose on the sale.

New Build as in my sig all at stock and stock cooler used at the moment..

Idle is 29 - 36 depending on room temp

Run prime for less than a minute and temps shoot to 90 - 99

This normal?
