Am currently looking at a Haswell upgrade, and just want to check that I'm going down the right path so to speak.

Motherboard

The motherboards of choice for Haswell (when overclocking) seem to be these two:
Asus Maximus VI Hero
Gigabyte GA-Z87x-OC

Is there much difference between the two at all? Also, am I right in thinking that the Asus Maximus VI Hero board does'nt have the VGA Hotwire connection for my Asus Matrix HD7970 Platinum? Although I doubt that that's much of a game changer to be honest.

CPU

Is the 4770k the CPU of choice in terms of Haswell overclocking in as much as the 2500k was the CPU of choice for Sandybridge overclocking. Or should I be going for something like the 4670k instead?

From research 4.7Ghz seems to be a popular OC for the 4770k, is that about as far as these can be pushed stability wise? Note this will be cooled via a closed loop system.

Memory

What speed memory is recommended for Haswell overclocking? I've been looking at 16Gb 2400 Kingston HyperX Predator Beast, with 16Gb is it best to stick with 2 sticks of ram or go with 4...or does it not make any difference with Haswell?

About OCing the 4770K:
It is a lottery. You can get as much as 4.2 and not a mhz more or you can get a better chip which overclocks well. I haven't oc'ed mine yet, waiting few more weeks to get all water cooling parts together.

About memory:
I have 2x4GB Avexir Gold 2133 Mhz. I bought it because of the looks and there is a nice guide by 8 Pack to get it to 2400 Mhz (stable). I heard that you can get it up to 2600/2666 but not sure about stability.

About motherboards:
I heard the Gigabyte is most popular and performs the best.
Can't say much more - I have a mini ITX build :D

Is this a "upgrade" from the spec in your siggy? If so save your money as it's not worth it. I went from a i5 760 @4.2Ghz and even i am disappointed with the "upgrade". Overclocking wise, it's never been such a lottery as it is with Haswell. Apart from the temps it's very hit or miss as to whether you will pass 4.5Ghz.

Where can I find 8 Packs guide Bart?

Check topics in 'Memory' part of the forum. Someone posted how to overclock the Avexir ram and 8 Pack replied with a screenie of his settings.
Thats what I meant by 'guide' :)

Yeah it would be an upgrade from the spec in my sig, but the guts of the spec in my sig will get reused on the kids PC :)
