I use iTunes on PC and since yesterday on Mac. It is far more quicker on Mac and my PC wasn't exactly slow/old either. On the PC however I did find that the latest versions i think 7/8 onwards ran really slow compared to the older version, (this is what i remember from when I installed the latest iTunes software. So I would go ahead and install an older version if yours is running slow.

I personally like it and use it a lot. I find it much better than something like Windows Media Player to handle my music.

It's a great bit of software.

I find iTunes slowish with a large collection on a PC. I prefer Media Monkey tbh. I like to have more control over the file names etc. However since I got a touch I use itunes for the app store.
