Could be quite interesting this one. Malignaggi is quite a character and certainly talks the talk, but I don't think he'll walk the walk. He's only stopped 5 fighters, I don't think theres any way he can knock Hatton out. It might go to points, but whatever - I'm sure Hatton will win.

What do you reckon?

I don't think Hatton has the power to intimidate Pauli and both fighters will be able to fight for the full 12 rounds and it wouldn't surprise me if Hatton lost on points at the end.

With Mayweather Snr and Beard taking over and rumours that Hatton will try to use his boxing skills, I've my doubts, as Malignaggi is a better boxer and I think Hatton will have no other option than to revert to type and try forcing the pace and throwing some body shots, but Malignaggi has a great chin and is resilient enough to cope with this, after all, he took Cotto the distance and I think he will go on to win the decision.

i hope ricky wins but i just dont know.

as kev points out mal has a good chin but ricky was always best with his body shots those are his boxing skills imho , he has showed time and time again that he can hurt to the body, if he goes back to doing that which lets face it is what he does best, that takes mals chin out of the equation.

i think ricky will win by knockout via a body shot.

if mayweather senior is as good as he is supposed to be he has to get ricky throwing those powerful body shots which didn't happen in the mayweather fight, then ricky will win. if he doesnt its anyones guess.

Agree with Kev, I think the most likely outcome is Malignaggi winning on points, hes the better boxer and he can take a punch, after being knocked down but still lasting 12 rounds with Cotto.

Should be a good fight though, and it'll be interesting to see if Hatton looks any different now with the new trainer etc.

I pick Hatton to KO in 8. He seems motivated and the sparring I have seen shows a lot of lateral movement that he has been missing of late.

Personally I can't see Malignaggi bringing enough to do much damage. He has brittle hands and is one of the weakest punchers in the LWW division. He will not be able to stop Hatton from coming forward and although may lead the cards for the first few rounds, Hatton's superior footwork will allow him to out manoeuvre Paulie. I think if it goes to the cards it will be a slim Hatton win but I fancy it to finish early.

People will claim that if Paulie can last the course with Cotto he can do so with Hatton, but Cotto was seriously weight drained and his power was compromised at LWW imo.

Not having a go or anything but you never really seem to back our own fighters ..... your knowledge of boxing seems to be greater then mine.

But can you really see the guy who had to have his "dreads" cut off mid fight and have a very weak punch trouble hatton??

Exactly, if Cotto couldn't knock him out then I'm not sure Hatton will either. Plus I think Hatton is slower and less skillfull than Cotto, so unless he lives up to what he's saying, i.e. he's going to be moving about more, using the jab, then I think Malignaggi might well be just fine.

Hatton, will win no problem, wheres ya faith, come on to be fair he has only lost to Mayweather and he is different class to everybody.

You're probably right about me being rather negative about our fighters lately, that's because I thought that Calzaghe could have lost to Hopkins and Jones Jnr and nearly did in the Hopkins fight and after his Pavlik demolition, I think he would if they fought again. As for RJJ, I thought he looked in great condition both physically and mentally and would outbox Joe.

With regards Haye, even though I thought he'd win, Barrett can bang and that was always at the back of my mind and David Haye's as well, so I was a bit edgy before this fight.

As for Hatton, he's not got the power to trouble someone who's a great boxer and tough enough to take Cotto the distance, even coming off the floor and I think Hatton's weight fluctuations, coupled with his Mayweather dismantling and new trainer, mean that I think his career is nearly over and why I'm thinking Malignaggi will win.

Thankfully, my pessimism has been misplaced and all our fighters have come through and hopefully, Ricky will do the same this weekend.

Glad you took my post as it was intended :)

I agree with your comments about hatton , I really just think he's marking time after hi s defeat. To be fair to hatton he has shown in the past some good punching power.

However I tend to agree he needs to wrap his career up sooner rather then later before he get badly beaten. I'd hate to see that happen as I am a genuine fan of hattons....

I've never been a Hatton fan. His constant "Man of the people" thing is getting tiresome. His bear hugging tactics and a football team fan club is not really impressive either. However I do give him credit for the amount of wins he has clocked up. I just think now hes getting some proper fights he is going to get exposed again.

Malinaggi to win.

He has beaten a few world class fighters in his time , although I do concede mayweather he was outclassed ,all be it not helped by the ref..... :o
