Hatton vs Malignaggi!

That. was. awesome. :D

He completely outclassed Malinaggi inside and out and I think its probably ricky's best performance since before Tszyu..

His stamina and speed was something else and it was great to see him setup his punches with some feints & jabs.. nice to see him finding angles again too, not just ploughing straight on.

What a poor opponent, he didn't have a chance. All he was doing was clinching on with his damned left arm and sniffing hattons armpits.

....Hatton stiffened Malignaggi with big left hooks in rounds three and four, by which time it was becoming increasing obvious that Malignaggi's jab alone was not going to be enough to keep Hatton at bay.....

.....the crowd sensing that Malignaggi did not possess the weaponry to put their hero in any trouble....

.....Malignaggi, whose right hand has been operated on four times, was barely throwing it by the middle rounds.....

......By round 11, Malignaggi was merely surviving, and following another rash of swinging left hooks from Hatton in the 11th, his trainer had seen enough. Malignaggi was........clearly upset, shoving McGirt in the chest. But having won just one round on all three judges' scorecards, it was a justifiable decision.....

From the BBC.

Just got up, didn't know the result. Awesome stuff. I thought Hatton would stop him. Looks like Pauline broke his hand again though.

I agree with Paulie, that it was a premature stoppage, he wouldn't have won the fight, but his record is now blighted by McGirt throwing in the towel.

Hatton was very busy, but missing far too many shots, not really doing enough work inside and if he wants to take on Oscar or Manny, these points will need working on.

I'm very glad that I was wrong and Ricky still has a future, but if he moves up to 147 again, his future could be a lot shorter.

Surely a rematch with Mayweather would be pointless? Since his last fight with Mayweather, where Hatton was totally outclassed in pretty much every area, Hatton hasnt improved (correct me if I'm wrong) and if that is the case, a rematch would go exactly the same way as the first fight.

Obviously there will be good money in it for both fighters, but the fight wont be as unpredictable and we will all pretty much know who the winner is before the fight begins.

What are your thoughts on this?

Think Mayweather was just too good for Hatton last time out Ricky just couldn't get to him.

De La Hoya at Wembley is a more obvious match (should he win in 2 weeks time) and if he won that then Maybe Mayweather would come out of retirement to fight him again but a De La Hoya fight would be at Welter which Ricky doesn't seem the same fighter at.

He'd probably be better off if Pacman won cos he'd probably be happy to fight at light welter.
