I have just bought a Pinaccle TV tuner for Vista/XP MCE Card

I got XP MCE running. Did installation, got the pci card in everything went fine. Loaded up MCE, found channels, but when i click to load channels... It tells me Decoder error???

IVe searched their forums and Nothing :(

help :(

Have you installed a decoder?

If you are using the XP version of Media Cetnre you have to install a decoder such as Power DVD / Win DVD.

You'll need an MPEG2 decoder, which for licencing reasons, isn't provided in XP MCE.

You will need something like DScaler, nVidia PureVideo, Cyberlink or another DVD playback software program.

Thanks man you lot are wicked sorry for my dumbness lol

And by the way, right its not that much of a high end pci tuner card, no hybrid freeview. So im thinking of getting a freeview set top box and connecting it to the card. Would that work? Or would i need the card to have a freeview tuner too for that?

I would personally look at swapping it for one that does have a freeview tuner built in - MCE's designed for freeview tuners, set-top-box support really is an addon/afterthought - it'll be much lower quality than a dedicated freeview tuner card, due to the digital-analog-digital conversions it'll have to go through.
