Have a HD9670 and sparkles all over.

Well the problem is resolved.

Moved the DVI from the dual link connector (attached there by mistake) and put it on the single link connector and the sparkles just haven't reappeared.

Strange but hey, if it is working :-).

Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

^^ That's something I'll have to take note of for future reference...
Must... Plug... Into... Correct.... Connector! :D
Glad it's fixed for you matey ^_^ Never would have even thought about that myself :o

Good news but very strange it would affect it like that

Of course the strange thing is the dual link has VGA written underneath it and the other DVI has nothing.... :D.

Yeah, really seemed like a dodgy ram or connector issue. Unlikely to be an overheating issue as after a soft reboot it got very noticably better.

Oh well, fixed now :D

Not really. Am installed on a 60GB SSD with some games and apps on my backup 1TB drive.

I could reinstall which would give me a chance to swap my Vertex2 for the newer vertex 3 I have in my server and upgrade to the i5 to get the sata3 connectors but would hate to have to download the Steam games again. Steam is on the 1TB drive so I hope I would be able to re link them with a fresh install.

You can just copy the C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\ folder, and paste it into the new Steam install. Then you won't have to download all the games again ;).

honestly why would you suggest a fresh install of windows just for changing a graphics card?

Cause i have seen plenty of people who switched from nvidia to amd have problems and a fresh install would work best to clear all the nvidia carp. unless your gonna start doing manual reg edits. in which case i hope you know what your doing.

I only ask as a fresh install is always seen as a last resort.

Even easier, I just installed Steam and pointed it to the old install directory. It installed and all the games were already there. All been working fine so seems to be good.
