i think it's pretty disgraceful to be honest. that officer had no right or reason to act in such a manner.

Its not even what hes doing, its the way hes talking to her from the get go, how does a complete **** like that ever make it to a position of authority?

Why does one of his work mates not just tell him to ease up? Its complete ******.

I honestly cant believe that, the woman is very nearly pension age too.

I don't understand..

All I can see is a cop dragging a complete drunk woman into a cell as she is not cooperating. He then throws her in the cell where she hits her face and bleeds.

Can't really see much wrong with that, it was unfortunate that she hurt herself but accidents happen.

As for the language he is using, I can't understand what's the problem with it as I can't understand why they are not broadcasting what the "victim" has been telling the PC before he replied to her. He told her to shut up - omg, shock horror... - can't see what the fuss is about.

'Suspended on full pay' - so, holiday then?

Even if she's been abusive, he's in a position where he should be leading by example- he should be trained to deal with people like that and not use that much force as to chuck her onto the floor hard enough to be bleeding.

If you cant see the problem there, you have a problem.

And forget the daily fail answer, a photo is a photo and a video is a video.

Overbearing brutish tit. There is always one who drags down the reputation those around him. Thank god there are only a few.

While the force he used to throw her into the cell seemed OTT, if this was a dangerous criminal, would the paper be up in arms? If a slightly too hard shove gets a policeman suspended, how are they supposed to deal with brawls, knife incidents etc?

Edit - didn't watch the whole video and the wound looks fairly bad in that photo above, but we don't know what happened before the video, and it's quite easy to cut yourself on a sharp edge/doorframe/bench/whatever.

I suppose the main complaint is that it's a woman and the force is a bit excessive, but was she kicking/hitting back?

This is an old drunk lady, not Kenny Noye.

You use what force is needed how is that in any way correct what hes doing.

Dont forget why she was there in the first place. Sleeping off a night on the lash in her car, and failing to give a breath test. As far as I'm aware being drunk in a car, and in possession of the keys accounts to being drunk and in charge of the vehicle, asleep or not.

Drunk, uncooperative woman dragged to cell when she refuses to walk and use her own legs.
Or brutal man dragging the poor innocent woman to a cell because he's a bad cop.

The choice is yours and likely depends on how much bother you've had with the law yourself, and therefore what preconceived opinions you hold. The truth as always will be shades of grey.

Well having just seen it this isn't quite an all out savage assault but he certainly was very heavy handed with her and it's not really clear whether it was his intention to actually bust her head when he threw her into the cell (well most likely not since I doubt he wanted to lose his job that day). As for audio at the start it seems a little subjective frankly, we do not hear anything that was said by the lady in question beforehand (and first thing we hear from the policeman suggests she has been saying something) and it just cuts straight to him telling her off basically. All we know about the lady is that she failed to give a breath test so chances are there was a reason for her to get taken to a police station, I'm not aware of many women in their late 50s getting taken down to the local "nick".

It still in no way justifies being as heavy handed as he was but I don't think they should go as far as sacking him but certainly deserves some sort of a disciplinary action (unpaid leave, etc) and I'm sure the lady will get over her difficulty of watching the images once she receives the big compensation cheque from the force.

What do you mean it seems. It is OTT. I don’t see a hardened criminal putting up a fight standing at the check-in counter do you. The police using force deal quite adequately with those types and no one complains but this is a woman seemly doing nothing who you can’t compare with a hardened criminal or some drunken yob brandishing a knife. Maybe the sergeant should be taking some sort of medication when it’s that time of the month because as sure as hell he looks like he needs it.

He didn't really need to throw her in like that... but aside from that... I know she was drunk but how difficult is it just to cooperate and get it over and done with? probably disciplinary worthy as he seemed to have lost it a bit at the end but not really that bad.

They have to be a bit overbearing or people just act up, don't do as they are told and turn the whole procedure into chaos.

TBH, from the video I don't see much happening, it's at about 2fps when she's thrown in the cell and I don't know why he dragged her across the reception, maybe she refused to move?
