Have channel 4 run out of Programs???..

ITV is making it's own stand-up show with Jason Manford as the host. Or at least that's what he said. It was only a pilot at that time so I'm not sure if it was given the go ahead.

It was on last Friday I think, music and comedy variery show. But switched over quite early on as his standup was very very lame. Seen him live and he was decent.

They need more Comedies.

Black Books, Ali G, Spaced, Green Wing... where did all that talent go?

I often say this but I don't think enough money is put into comedies, I watched a comedy the other day called lizzie and sarah, it was a pilot and thought it was really funny and would watch it if they made a series, but they wont most likely.

Answered your own question there, Mark Heap, Eldon, Stevenson (or whatever her name is now) are all in that Lizzie and Sarah. :D

But I agree. More comedy please!

RE: channel 4, I really enjoyed the last series of "The Family".

He's only the host, there were 3 other comedians and 2 bands on

As far as I've heard it got decent enough ratings so I think it will probably see a short run series made.

Not enough comedy is shown on TV these days for my liking. When do you ever see sitcoms or standup on BBC1 or 2 anymore? Only Live At The Apollo caters for ths. Any other comedy comes in the form of panel shows.

Comedy is always thrust onto channels like BBC Three where it rarely gets enough exposure to warrant continuation.
? when has stand up ever been big on tv? it's currently in a bit of a hay day, with live at the apollo, michael mcintyres roadshow and now potentially jason manford's comedy rocks, all taking fairly primetime spots.

Comedy always been big. Maybe not always in the form of stand up, but the likes of Whose Line Is It Anyway? or the classic sketch shows of the Two Ronnies and Monty Python era. What have we got now? Little Britain, which relies on catchphrases rather than jokes.

Okay.. Come Dine with me.. is worth watching.. Love Dave Lamb's commentary!! :D

But the repeats upon repeats of Location Location and then showing the 'revisited' of the same repeated episode a week later is getting annoying!!...

Its just the 6pm to 7pm slot is 'repeatsville'...

4OD is your friend. Catch up on all those shows you missed.

May I suggest starting with Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? :D

I explicitly said stand up, as you said "when do you ever seen standup on tv any more"
I'd actually say there is more sitcom/sketch shows/satirical quiz shows than ever before, and there are some absolute gems in among the dross, unfortunately modern TV programming often works to the lowest common denominator and you end up with two pints of lager and a packet of crisps getting more airtime/repeats than stewart lee's comedy vehicle, that's not to say there's not amazing new talent coming through, it's just to say that more people need to watch it when it's on!
