Ok been trying to setup my fileserver and having issues. I am trying to get 4 of my 6 ide drives to run off an ide card. Now it will only pickup 2 so I though why not remove them from the bays and test each one to make sure its working.

So i go through all my 80gb ide drives and they seem to work. So I plug one of them in I know worked just a minute ago and now the drive is making a loud ticking/thudding sound. Obviously this aint normal, only thing with this one is i bent the ide pins slightly and bent them back witha screwdriver. I havn't dropped this, I put it in exactly the same place as the other drives while testing and there fine.

So is this drive totally dead now? I got it off the mm and just checked the serial number and its out of limited warranty, is there anyway to get a replacement?
