have stats ruined your gaming experience?

Definitely.

Stopped playing BF3 recently at rank 45, a service star for each class with a kdr @ ~3.4. Strangely enough i did not have the same problem with UT's ngworldstats in 99-02.

Back to promode for me!

Course you did sunshine.

Lets have a look at your stats then.

we can only draw Raven comparisons if his stats never actually appear and when we do find them, they are actually disappointing average, and he has to come up with an excuse along the lines if he never really liked Battlefield 3 and was just messing about.

He may actually have those stats, but considering the games not long been out, i wanna see what weapon he's been whoring to get those stats if indeed they are true ;)

I'm not overly bothered, but say my kdr is 2.50 and I slowly see it dropping down below 2.00 it would annoy me - not to the point where I stop playing the game, though. I agree, though - I would prefer it if KDR etc were removed completely from games!

I've seen Raven's stats

and his excuse for his average 1..6 K: D was that he doesnt really like the game and only messes about with it on practice servers.

Which is entirely why he's put 100 hours into a game he hates in a game thats not even been out 3 weeks yet

at the end of the day, your SPM (score per minute) is much better barometer of player you are.

No point taking out 10 people for 1 death every game if you never blow up or defend an Mcom or defend / take a flag (unless you only play deathmatch)

Stats ruined World of Warcraft.

/nerd. I remember when there were no stat guides, nobody used boss mods, no threat metres etc killing Onyxia, fun times.

It has, but only because when everyone's obsessing over their KDR rather than just enjoying the experience, the gameplay suffers.

I dont care how good you are, or how good I am. I just want to enjoy the game. Yeah, it's nice to get a good score, or be able to check out your accuracy ratings, but overall I can live without it all if the game is good.

Exactly, I dont see the point of playing the game unless its for fun, no point playing a game for months/years just to get a high KDR and massive global score because it all counts for FA in the real world. Agree with the comments about unlocks though, don't like them and there is something that smells console like about them..

The only game that I cared about my K/D ratio on, was Black Ops. Possibly because I was quite good, but other than that, I don't care about stats because I suck at most online games. I always get rubbish K/D ratios because I enjoy messing around more than playing in a way that maximises the ratio.

I have more fun on Black Ops running around trying to get YouTubable tomahawk kills, and on Battlefield 3, I love getting a swell vantage point and sniping like a demon (even though I suck at that, too). So, I have just realised that the only game that I did care about my stats on, I no longer do. Stats are not necessary for me, but I'm glad they're there for the people that do think they add to the play.

My KDR is 0.3, but it usually goes up when I rank up and get the good guns. At least that's how it worked in BF2 :p

I do more team things like capturing flags, although it does bug me if I go 1 - 10 :/

Don't find them appealing and I'm glad I'm not currently playing any games that keep track of them. Even back in the CSS days with tards checking there server K/D stats every five minutes was annoying enough. Mainly why I like TF2 as you don't have to be good at killing to win and doesn't give good players unfair advantages.

It doesn't bother me, although I do find it interesting reading. Stats whores make me laugh on BF3, surely you should be concentrating on the objectives unless its TDM, in that case go play COD.
