just wondering, have technology hit a dead end? Because with all the new graphics card released they dont actully ahve any new features, jsut more pipelines and speed. I mean all the features a 7800 have, the 6800 have as well and this card is 1 generation ago.

no...

i think games have hit a massive lead wall.

seriously not taking advantage of any top end technology yet..
and the gameplay has pretty much got stagnent recently. especially in FPS.. it needs something to grab it by the neck otherwise it will die very quickly

deffinately hasnt hit a wall, until things look like real life, theres plenty more to do. then theres VR/holographic stuff, then itll be jacking in.

we're only at the start mate

i have looked at the games pre-orders for the rest of the year , only game worth getting is unreal 2007 , nothing worth talking about , whats happend to pc gaming , all these new cards and nothing to show , roll on the PS3 , very disappointing , the last game i played was Call of duty 2 , what do you think ? the 7800 have not been even tested , now they are being replace , it seems the harware is moving but not the software

If you think your 7800 ran COD2 fine at maxed out settings, then you need to get your eyes tested.

i guess it depends on what your running COD 2 ran well for me on max settings

No it didnt, max settings would be at least 1680x1050 res, 8xAA, 16xAF and I seriously doubt an single card could handle that at playable settings. I know my 7800 can't

It's very difficult to add new features without API support, which is why the major shifts occur with the release of each new DirectX version.

DirectX 10 will be no different.

most new games are badly coded, their gfx are no better and mostly worse than games likes farcry and half-life 2. games like COD2 and FEAR are just stupidly coded, the gfx produced in the game should demand no more than a geforce 4 gfx card.
