Have you slaughtered and skinned an animal?

Yep, loads of different animals...i worked in an independent micro abbatoir and butchers, they were all hand slaughtered aswell in a comfortable non stressful environment.

Also out of work i used to do a bit of shooting and killed, skinned and ate many animals including rabbits, pheasant, grouse, deer, wild pig.

I dont have a problem with killing animals for food, dont like them being killed for sport though.

I've shot a dog as it was chasing the Ewe's when they were pregnant...the owner understood, and appologised. I was only about 12. Was a very clean shot though, so it didn't suffer.

Done fish & turkeys, rabbits. Nothing that big

Sorry if I misunderstood your post but a dog was chasing your sheep (probably just larkin about) so you blew it away and the owner was like "dude its ok that you just slaughtered my dog". :p

probably just larkin about

Larking about would be a dog chasing pigeons, affecting someone's livelihood is chasing pregnant sheep. Dog owners in the countryside would understand this, can't imagine they were happy about it but its a perfectly understandable thing to do.

I presume you live in a city/town/urban environment? Loose dogs worrying livestock (especially pregnant females) are a serious problem and are usually (and quite rightly) shot :)

Killed, skinned, gutted and cooked rabbits when I was in the scouts.

This plus skinned a few freshly shot pheasants/pigeons/partridge

First time we did it we were expecting lots of mess so the kitchen looked like a scene from American Psycho lol

yes,a goose, ducks and chickens...my grand dad had a farm and would ring a chicken so fast it did the running around bit for a few seconds....used to amuse us as kids.

I haven't ever killed and prepared a mammal but I have killed and prepped some fish and birds. I've helped a farmer castrate bulls in the past but I don't think that really counts :(

Never killed anything, but I've skinned and gutted a pheasant:

Makes you appreciate what your eating. None of this 'I only eat economy chicken breasts because they don't have bones and don't taste like meat' rubbish.

I can appreciate that without dirtying my own hands tbh. That said, for some reason I forgot about my college days working in a small family butcher/backery. I helped out turning the sows into the various cuts we used. Making Brawn has got to be one of the most unpleasant things I've been involved with though.
