first my comp keeps freezing up on me seem to have sorted that problem now.

so now the 4870 is winging like a cheap ***** think bearing has gone on the fan NOT HAPPY ONLY GOT IT 3RD DECEMBER
gonna take it back tommorrow if they don't have another in stock (which i doubt they will) i will get a refund of them.

what would be a good replacement for it i was thinking add £50 and get a 5770
or hold onto the cash use my old 2600xt to get me by until the 58** series cards come down in price.

HD5770 would be worthy I would have thought, a little faster than your current 70 not by much through

yeah looked at some benchies there is only 1-2 fps in the 2 cards but lower power consumption for same performance ain't bad at all IMO

Might look at the vapour-x like the look of them.

I'd just hang on until the 58xx series comes down in price to be honest, hopefully they'll replace your 4870 and then you can use that until you want an upgrade.

If they do refund however I'd say get a 4890, especially considering you are on xp, you just want as much brute power for a little as possible until the 58xx series comes down in price and you can get one for around £125 on OcUK.

At £125 there a steal IMO keep wanting to get 2 myself :p

Just got my second one last week, had an enforced holiday hence just posting now, and I am well pleased. Both cards working very efficiently, quietly and cooly(is that a word lol). At 35% fan speed idle temps are 34-35c and when gaming(on Fallout3) around 55c(upped fan speed to 50% while gaming). Using 9.12 hotfix installed over 9.11 and no problems so far. Great buy in my opinion, get two in crossfire you won't regret it I'm sure.:D

I changed from a 4890 but crossfired 5770 is up there with 5870 performance wise, doesn't the 5870 spank the 280?

If you're on XP still, its not worth getting the 5770, as you'll paying £50 more for a couple of more frames, so id hang on for the 58 prices to come down a bit, actually, 5830 is getting released end of the month/beginning of Feb, so may be worth taking a look at that, as it sounds like it'll be a little cracker, and decently priced. :)
