Hey all

There is probably a thread about this already if there is feel free to call me a Muppet and post a link :)

I was having a browse in the general hardware section and saw that on specing semi budget semi decent gaming computers many recommended the GTX 460 as oppose to the new Radeon HD 6850, or the older but better Radeon HD 5850.

Although I am aware that 460 has received a considerable price drop recently I would have suggested that for a semi decent gaming computer the 1024mb card would be more efficient than a 768mb. This puts the price difference between the 460 and the Radeon HD 6850 within roughly £20, and I was under the assumption the 6850 was a better card so surely makes the 460 null a void. I may be wrong however and that is my main point of discussion.

I was just wondering what everyones thoughts and feelings on the difference between these two cards were?

I have now. ;)

It would appear a lot of heated words were exchanged and not much has really been concluded. Like I said though ignoring the 768mb as Radeon don't make a 768mb 6**** series and assuming you have £150 - £180 to spend on a card.

You'll see in this article that actually the 6850 and 460 1 gig are pretty much neck a neck (only looked at the 1920x1080 results as this is what "most" tend to game at) really in terms of performance, given the 460 is marginally cheaper, thats why people continue to recommend it
