Having a colonoscopy.

Just had another lovely glass of picolax, can't wait for it to kick in :o.

If I knew how to avoid it Biggles, I'd be a rich man.

Dan, watch the South Park episode "Fun with Tourettes" Then when you hear those magic words, run to the bathroom and yowl them out :D.

Makes painful tummy n nasty bum gravy at least a little humourous (if you're immature) when you see bemused chinese housemates stood outside like  lol :D

You can have sedation for a colonoscopy? Yeah that's right, muggins here had to have one (which confirmed diverticulitis) and they didn't give me squat. It wasn't nice :(

It won't be gone, because there's no cure for UC. You're in relapse. Enjoy it while it lasts.

:)

Or just IBS maybe? I think these can go away.

^brrr at that image.

@ Rainmaker: look scared, and ask for them to give you some gas & air as you go into the theatre. They'll oblige.

Kind of true - I think most people would rather the illness than the current cure. Remove the colon and your immune system won't be able to attack it. Chrons on the other hand is another step up the evil ladder.

When the doctor inserts the camera, make sure he doesnt have both hands on your shoulders ;)

It's definately gone alright, like jay1979 said, they removed my colon and even scraped out my Rectum

I just wasn't responding at all to any of the treatments and was in a really bad way. They then made a new colon for me out of the end of my small intenstines, this is called a J-Pouch.
Obviously not as good as a real colon but far better than I was before and it means you don't need to have a illeostomy bag.

You can add me to the list, i've recently started a flare-up of crohn's too. Spent the last few months suffering with perianal abcesses and operations on 2 of them. Now awaiting a colonoscopy to see how damaged my bowel/intestine is. I've also got a stricture at the end of my intestine valve (where small intestine joins onto large bowel), so I have to have a soft/liquid diet so that food doesn't get blocked. From the sounds of things i'm NOT looking forward to the colonoscopy, especially with loads of pain already there and a stricture. What a lovely disease we've got, and the numbers just keep increasing. As for the question of how to avoid it, there's a theory it's caused by the MAP virus in milk, and our **** western diet. So possibly avoiding milk and supermarket processed junk food is the key?

Ah. In that cases, it's definitely gone, and you trump all the UC/Chron's/IBS sufferers in this thread.

You poor mongrel. :(

That's the problem, they don't know why you get Ulcerative Colitis so they don't know how to cure it.
It's most common in males 18-35 I think, awful, awful disease.

That's not what I asked.

I asked what made you guys to go and have one in the first place?

Surely not every male in this country gets a letter ask them to do a colonoscopy when they hit 18 years old. This isn't the same as smear test for women where they get a letter every few years. So obviously something made you go to see your GP and then ask for a probe, was it pain in the stomach or was it because you had an accident and had an X-Ray in your abdomin and the technician picked up something on the scan and sent you for a probe? I mean no healthy person with no pain would go ask for their bum to be explored surely, unless you are that way inclined.

That is what i am getting at, hope that makes more sense.
