Hi everyone. Got all my parts delivered today and almost done, just a little confused with the case fans and rgb setup. I have a phanteks P400a and a msi tomohawk mobo so a pretty common setup I'm sure. Got everything plugged in except the fans. I dont understand what iam meant to do with them. Where do the fans themselves plug in and how are they controlled speed wise. Also the cable labelled mb rgb 3 pin won't fit on either of my mobo headers because they have 4 mins. Pretty much all I'm stuck on.

Thanks.

3 pin rgb are addressable 5v
4 pin rgb are standard leds and are 12v
Dont plug 5v on 12v header
Or fizzle:(
Plug the fans wherever you have fan headers for them

I have plugged the 3 front fans into the mobo, assumed there would be a split thing so all 3 went into 1 but I still can't plug in the rgb 3 pin connector as the mobo is 4 pin. It has 2x 4 pin for rgb, mine is 3 pin and the missing bit is solid plastic. Hmmmm

Phanteks ~mine is phanteks 719 ~the leds are 5v digital addressable 3 pin
You can't plug them into a 4 pin 12v led header
Even if you got it on there you would fry them :(

Hey, unfortunately I've just spent about 5 days looking at every single connector/socket/system/type/adapter/converter for this type of issue! mine is solved now, but if you want to cut down on 5 days of research for solutions, post a pic of the plug you have, and I'll cross reference it on my charts (Yes I am that anal) and give you your best options.

Hi, thanks for reply. The male connector I assume is to put other fans in the chain. The female one is confusing me. Also I have plugged the SATA cable into my PSU, which I thought would make the RGB lights work, but it doesn't, only the lights on the power button work.

Looks like you needed the 400s which connects to a 12v 4 pin for your board not the 400a which connects to a board with 5v 3 pin. Apparently there is an adapter PH-CB_RGB4P

If the plug pictured is for the header for all your fans you can get them all working with a jonesbo remote

Hope that helps in some way.

Yeah I cant connect it. The 400s is a different case, it doesn't come with a mesh front, which is why I wanted this one. This is stupid why not just use 1 standard and stick to it?

Ok that remote is cheap on ebay, ill get it. Does that mean I cant control the lights on the case? What is the SATA cable for on my case? it appears to be doing nothing.

Thanks mate.

If the 5v 3pin connector you pictured was intended for a mainboard lightsync/mysticsync/Aurasync bleh bleh! of some sort, then yes I'd imagine the jonesbo remote would then control all the case fans lights, I'd leave them all plugged in to the sysfan board plugs for fan power, and let the jonesbo take the place of the board RGB sync system. You might not get every bell and whistle you may have got from the board software, but it should get them all producing effect, and it's remote control! which is cool right?

The case lights on my 719 work without
Connecting to the motherboard
Just can't software control them unless connected to the board is all
Can only use the buttons on the case to change modes
The sata cable may be the case leds power connector

The case lights if connected right
May be in the off position
Holding down one of the buttons on the front of the case for few seconds turns them on/off
On my enthoo luxe and 719 so am assuming your case may be similar

Tried that. Only works on the power button. Ive got a reset button, and 2 others, which change the colours and stuff but only on the power button. Iam wondering what that SATA power does? Maybe its hooked into the wrong modular plug on PSU? I aint fussed about software controlling them at all.

1 of those 2 little buttons that change colours and modes if I hold it for few seconds it turns case leds on/off
