Having "everything on one device"

ho else has found the same or will we evermore strive to live our lives through one hand-held oblong?

Set your phone up right then! I have the buttons on my Note II customised so you can skip tracks and stuff by long pressing them when the phone is in the pocket.

If you phone cannot do this, get a better phone that does support such features. You can't really complain about this when you didn't get something that was fit for needs in the first place.

I think your Op is a classic case of moaning for the sake of moaning. As mentioned, phones have been telling the time since single line monochrome LCDs were put on them. That hasn't stopped people wearing a wrist watch.

The only valid argument is that most phones don't have much battery power in reserve when used as a proper smartphone. Only a few can manage 2 days of solid use but with USB ports virtually everywhere it's not too much of an issue finding a means to charge somewhere.

Haha, why?! Amazon have Destroyed an industry almost single handedly. Good for them.

Fixed

Real Books > eNonsense

FACT!

Plus they're better for the economy more jobs involved in creating paper or hard backed books = more peeps employed, Prices are reasonable rather than Fixed by the publishers and a certain tech company that'll remain nameless plus what'll happen to bookshelf manufacturers and Library's across the land they'll all go under!

Can't get my head round ebooks. Part of the fun of having a book is holding the pages in your hand. Also I bet one day it'll have to be "always online Kindle" or "verification access". No "offline books"!

I still have separate watch and MP3 player. But the camera in my phone is now so good i sold my compact and only have my Cannon 650D, which i don't think it'll surpass within it's lifetime

Do you have my phone? No. It has no skip button on the lock screen. And even if it did I would have to get the phone out of my pocket which I don't have to do with an mp3 player.

How about you just get the sand out of your vagina and use a dedicated mp3 player then? Why did you think this was an interesting idea for a thread?

No its not good. For instance a divx media player. I prefer a separate one from my phone although people talk about screen mirroring etc. What if I want to browse the web whilst I'm watching said video? Or what if I need to see my sat Nav when I'm on the phone to somebody?

Quite a few devices support split screen etc

You need to draw a line.

I have an ipod and a wrist watch.

I use the phone as an alarm and for browsing on the go etc but for little nitty gritty things, watch/ipod is better.

The logic behind it is why carry more than one device when one does all. Easy to understand really. Don't need to explain anything else.

:)

True, but it's not about one device doing all those things, but about how well it can do them.

Yes indeed.

Its about compromise really.

For example, I can remotely connect to my networks at home and work from anywhere - Once on there I could work a bit quicker/easier if I had used a laptop/larger screen however the compromise is that I dont have to lug my laptop around everywhere.

I have a modern smartphone which is capable of doing all the mentioned functions in one unit ... but I also normally carry a separate iPod, watch and at home an alarm clock.

Why, well I had all of them prior to getting my first smart phone and they all work fine and are better at their individual tasks than the phone is at doing them. Also when i want to use the phone to make a call, or access the internet, I don't want to find that it's got a flat battery due to me using it to listen to music ...

I can't see this picture at work, but I imagine it's a facepalm or some witty image macro.

The amount of people not reading the OP in this thread must set a record. As I've said, it's about how well the phone can do them.
