Hey guys really hoping you can help me here as i'm getting no where with this windows 10 update.

So since yesterday i've been trying update it, I reserved my copy of windows 10 a long time ago and so had my friends, They received the notification but i hadn't.

So i looked it up online see if there was a way around, i saw that you could make the download start manually if i ran Command Prompt and typed in wuauclt.exe/updatenow

So i did that and it started downloading, It took AGES to download i'd say around 16 hours. Once it got to 100% on the download it says "Preparing for installation" Then comes back failed with 2 error codes.

One of the error codes were Error 80240020. I looked around google and stumbled across a video here's the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pW1nhIrUBk so i followed that backing up the files he says to delete first just in case and then i got greeted by another 2 error's after that.

Error code 80070057 and error code 80246010.

Can't seem to get past it so i restarted my computer and now ran the manual prompt again and it says it's downloading 2.7gb of windows 10. But i have a feeling i'll just get error codes again.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

Or download the ISO from the FAQ. If your on windows 8+ just use windows to mount the iso (double click on it) and run the setup and upgrade. You dont need to burn it or put it on a usb.

Useful to burn it or put on a USB for future use though!

yes it is. I rememebr a while back I tried to do a RESET of 8.1 and it said it could not be done becuase some files were missing and I would need an install disc. Lucky I had 8.1 on a memory stick

I had exactly the same errors, heres what i did to fix it.

head over to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and download Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool.

Click Upgrade This PC, thank me later :D

Can you not do this with Win7 also? Extract the ISO using WinRAR etc, and just run setup.exe?
