I recently aquired 2 more sticks of 2Gb GeIL DDR2 PC2-6400 Ultra CL4 Dual Channel 800MHz (the one with the bright orange cover) which are exactly the same as the two I already had. Upon placing one extra stick (total 3 identical sticks) into the slot it worked perfectly, yet placing two more sticks makes the computer shut down shortly after loading up. My motherboard is the Micro-ATX Gigabyte G33M-S2 and processor is the e6750 and everything is currently at default settings.

Would anyone be able to shed any light on this problem?

Thanks, Sam.

Hi

I also have that same ram but only 2 gigs worth and i run mine at 2.1v at 4,4,4,12. I know when i get more this week I will probably need to up the northbridge voltage to get it to boot. 4 sticks puts more strain on your mobo and so you should try this and see if that works.

Hope this helps

They are currently running at 5,5,5,18. And for some reason when I try to adjust the voltage it can only be 2.0 or 2.4?

I'm not very clued up on voltages and memory timings so i'm not sure what affects what.

Thanks

Hi

No worries we have all been there and thats why this forum is always good for help.
See if there is a setting in the bios for the northbridge and up it one notch at a time.

Hi
Ok change the MCH overvoltage control to increase by 0.1v reboot and see if that works. If not raise it to 0.2 and so on. That should do the trick. Let me know how you get on.

Right I think i've found the place where I can up voltages by 0.1 each time but I think i'll put off doing it until after I've finished my uni assignment. Thanks very much for your help and i'll update once i've tried this.

I tried overclocking to +0.1v-0.4v and it didn't work on any of the settings (between 1.8 and 2.2), just turns my computer off before it even shows the initial screen.

The ram is meant to be 2.1v, which i've tried.

It turns itself off about a second after I turn it on, doesn't even load up the initial dos-screen thing.
