Hawken mech online game

Anyone playing the open beta? Had a quick blast last night. Only played 2 rounds but it seemed very much geared as pay-to-win, lots of higher level mechs making mince meat of beginners... Like I said only played 15 mins worth. Like the style of the game so will be trying again tonight

Sorry if there is a thread already :o

I couldn't disagree more. It has problems, but pay 2 win isn't one of them right now. The biggest issue is that the starting assault mech wastes anything. I paid money for my beloved Sharpshooter mech from the alpha and closed beta, but it's very difficult to even keep a 1:1 kill ratio with it now as the Sabot rifle has been nerfed hard. Whereas the starting assault mech has actually been buffed significantly (I imagine to gives noobs encouragement). I hope they fix the balance soon :/

Reading their FAQ they want it on PS3, 360 and PC. But unconfirmed.

Yay, pc, oddly when I clicked vid. link it started almost at the end. Yes, pc is good, when I read about that mech mod being for man, what was it Far Cry 2? Anyway it was a bummer, cause I didn't have the game.

Oh by all means I only played a few minutes, all the prompting to buy credits to spend an mechs gave me that impression. That and being anally probed from across the map by mechs I could barely scratch :D Got a few kills but finished at 1:2 KDR :o

So..anybody else had their Steam key through for this? Just had mine and I'll probably give the game another try. I'm not hoping for too much but given how little I'm enjoying most PC games atm I'm sure it will compare favourably to everything else :p

I've been playing on steam the last few days as I was in alpha and beta. The game really is awesome now, runs so much better and the balance is much improved. Can't wait for it to hit steam for everyone to get more players on.

Haven't played for quite a few months now, I heard they recently rolled out a very significant patch with some huge balance changes alongside the Steam release. Tempted to give it another try as I was really enjoying it! I mainly stopped because back when I was playing they took out the server browser (so everyone was forced to use match-making) and I kept being match-maked into the same game over and over when I just wanted to switch server :( It gave me the impression that perhaps there weren't many people in the UK actually playing at the time...

Played a few weeks ago. Was a bit disappointed that it was more of a TF2-style fps than a mech combat game. Felt like I would rather just play TF2.

Might give it another go, as I only used the initial training mech.

I didn't get a TF2 vibe from this. Gameplay certainly felt a lot slower, but I'm not sure I like the washed out brown colours (only got the game today after receiving a steam code via email).

It's too early for me to tell just how tactical /fun the game is.

i got s steam code for this from Ur round next now it registered on steam and let me download it but it wont let me make a account as the steam key i put in when making a account says its not valid! so have the game but cant play it!!
