HAX F liquid cooling and build log

have you taken off the top panel where the 200mm fans are, you should see some bars and those should be used
You just need to take the stock 200mm fan off and use the holes that are designed for the 120mm fans. You only need 4 screws to hold the rad on

Just mounted the reservoir. I found it easiest to put the brackets on first to the case using pliers and a screwdriver. The brackets simply aren't up to the job of holding the res with liquid in it so i have put it on top of the PSU. See OP for pic.

She's coming along nicely :)

Hmmm... just before you posted that:

I turned my system on after plugging it in and I heard a crack and smelt burning. I instantly turned everything off by the switch and saw this.
The dashed red line is where the copper wire thingy should be. :( I'm guessing my warranty shall be void by user damage but I have no idea what I did wrong :(

Sure, these things happen all the time just don't admit to anything lol
it was like that out of the box right lol
or maybe a thunderstorm or just a strait up faulty item there's loads of good exuses you could give them.
Tell them that its there fault and it fried your mobo in the process :)
On a serious note though im sure they will refund you or replace it.

I have two FC5 V2's and I put one of them in my system and I turned it on and smelt burning. I then turned my system off by the plug and after a thorough inspection I saw that it was the fan controller that had burnt around about where the molex power inlet is. The copper wire seems to have been ripped off. I tested the second one and it was perfectly fine. Both these controllers are brand new (less than a week old and this was their first use), I have attached a picture. The red line is where the copper presumably should've been and I have two blue arrows pointing to where the copper seems to have been ripped off.

I initially thought a power surge may have caused this but everything else in my system is fine, including my PSU.

Could you please advise what I should do. Should I RMA to the retailer?

Good enough to get a refund?

Just because if it was the first one you tested it might have been a fault of your own when setting it up, but if you say the second one was faulty after testing the first one which was fine then chances are you got it correctly set up.
But either way sounds good to me.
