hazard perception test

Have you actually done the real DSA test in the test centre? It sounds to me like these theory tests could be over-complicating the issue.
I did mine a few years back (when I did my bike test) and just clicked as was explained above. No targetted clicking, the timing is the key, not the cursor.

surely thats madness because:

a) you are trying to learn something which is not real
b) you are training your mind when and where to click when again its pointless training your mind

everytime someone says click on a developing hazard, and on the hazard its confusing as prior to last night i took that literally so was clicking for roundabouts, traffic lights, pedestrian crossings etc...however after thinking i knew the correct way, i still got crap results....now you are saying its different to the real test as the real test is easier, i just dont know how to prepare myself for this, did you practice before hand? what results were yu getting? did u pass in practice? or fail more times?

thanks in advance...

I practiced on the BSM computers in my local BSM centre. There's is different cos it only says click once when you see the developing hazard, it's the same with online ones.(I was getting very low results in them) When I went into the real test I wasn;t expecting it to say click everytime you see a potential hazard but I ended up passing, I think it's pretty lenient. There's thorough instructions b4 you start it so I wouldn't worry about it tbh. You'll do fine.

Just done the hazard test on my PCV licence theory. The test is complete ******** i found my self seeing the hazards earlier than the test wants you to, so i was then clicking too early, gah. But as people have said just click 1 - gap - 2 - gap - 3. About 1 - 2 seconds inbetween each click. I passed mine 50 / 75 and that was only because on the last 2 i was clicking like mad and got 5 / 5 on them both.

Well done, I got my LGV theory shortly as well. Did the Hazard Perception test first time for getting my ADI license and have to do the exact same test again lol.

thanks dashik...some good advice there, sounds great in theory...will let you know how i get on with your suggestions....man i really need to sort this out a.s.a.p

thanks in advance..

Well how did you do? did it help any?

thanks for the vote of confidence peeps,

Well Dashik, I couldnt try last night but will DEFINATELY have a pop over the weekend and let you know.

Thanks for your advice...

I am quitely confidence after Manoz comments re: the hazard perception test is fairly leninent so hopefully its easier then the practice cds, I really do hope so, having said that though I will try as hard as possible to improve my scores before hand and try to train my mind to click as per your recommendations....ill let you know how i get on .....cheers!!

hey dashik,

This is crazeeeeeeeee, get this....

so I read carefully what everyone and especially you had to say...

So I've sat down tonight and practiced three times, keep what you said at the forefront of my mind...

First I got 24marks - my personal best, then I got 16 and then 10 marks...

Funniest thing ever is, you know when the test has finished and you get your scores, well it tells you where the hazard was, and I KNOW I had clicked as per yours and everybody's suggestion, during the times when I was supposed to as pointed out on the results page...

I mean this is ludcrious now, I am aware of the hazards, I am clicking:

a) as i see it b) as I have to change speed c) as I have to change direction...

So how the hell can the cd tell me I am getting zero results when it then tells me where the hazard was at which point I was clicking not once, but 2 - 3 times...

At the end of the day, Its my bad luck as if I fail the real test because of this I have to sit again and again and again, but surely thats unfair??

Erm please, please advise comments...

Thanks for your patience and persistance...

omg, gets even crazier.....

I just did it again following your advice and I scored 25 marks...

I also did the practice mini tests, in which straight the clip has ended its reviewed, well although once again I spotted the hazards, 2 times I got 5 marks then once although I had spotted the hazard it still gave me zero....

WTF is up with this??? How can you spot the hazard, click 2 - 3 times, it tells you in the explanation what you clicked at and so it decides to still give you zero marks...WTF!!!!

This is b******s

Hmmm patience grasshopper......

Just keep practicing and you'll soon realise when to click. Read my post again. Click when you see it, click when the car start slowing, click just before the car stops.

so you reckon I clicking at the wrong time? despite clicking 2 - 3 times per hazard as per your instructions?

do you think if i fail on the cd, i would fail the hazard perception in reality?

Generally if your failing in practice then your likely to fail on the test.

Keep going at it you'll get it. Remember its a click for anything you might have to slow down for. Then if it develops you click again as the car starts to slow and again as it stops.

Like most things it takes a little practice.

What I'm trying to get at is all the tests that you do or buy before the real one are different to the real one. The real one is a lot easier. Just click everytime you see a potential hazard and click again on one of those hazards which develops into something dangerous. You can click anywhere on the screen and you can't see the mouse cursor.

hmmm im confused...

i cant even afford to fail, why did they bring this nightmare test in anyway...flippin labour gov grrrrr

had the theory yesterday and I passed!!!

I got 33 out of 35 for the theory and 52 out of 75 on the hazard perception....

I did it way to quick and the hazard test is really slow and gruelling so my mind kept telling me "you failed you failed" BUT I PASSED!!!!

WOOHOOOOO

Thanks for all your help guys...

P.S. got my practical next weds on 11th july.......any tips??
