Hi

At the moment there is a special offer running on the Hazro HZ27WD 10-Bit 27
at £100 off from £599 to £499

Having look at the 8 bit version thats priced at £399 is there any major difference from the 8bit version to the 10bit version ?

Ive checked the specs and dont know if an extra £100 justifys to geting the 10 bit version? Will I notice a difference from the 8bit to the 10 bit?

Can anyone see a difference? as Im just about to order the 8bit version but I dont want to lose out,

Feedback will be appreciated

Oh, So have you played games on the 2560x1440 resolution? and was it free of problems?

Would all your pc games give you the option to run at full resolution 2560x1440?

Also does your 2560x1440 look better and sharper to compared to 1900x1200

ive not really gamed on mine...

my graphics card isnt up to gaming and its a work pc for photoshop/lightroom use.

for gaming you will need quite a powerful gpu, what do you have?

and yes, im sure it would look much better than 1900x1200

there are others on here that use them for gaming and by all reports they are fantastic

The panels are the same, the main difference is the WD has many more connection types and is HDCP compliant.

Ive ordered one today so looking forward to getting it tomorrow.

oh oK WHAT IS HDCP compliant?

I have 5970 xfire but xfire is disabled as im having driver issues with the game rage...

I see that the 10bit has one billion colours compared to the 16 million colours on the 8 bit version, Im trying to think if I would notice a difference or if the human eye can tell a difference, if not then I,ll save £100 and get the 8 bit version.

currently im using 1900x1200 on a 24inch so 2560x1440 on a 27inch will have sharper and better graphics?

What do you think?
 
1920x1200 @ 24" = 94.34 PPI
2560x1440 @ 27" = 108.79 PPI

More pixels per inch = sharper image. So yes, the image will be sharper.
The WD isn't a 'true' 10 bit panel (you have to shelf out even more cash for one of those) but it will present you with a better image. Will you notice it? probably not unless you got both side by side and are actually looking for differences. You may wanna look up the review of the WA on tftcentral and ctrl+f for "10-bit" to see exactly what it means.

HDCP compliancy means you can play back blu-rays/dvd's without worrying about copyright protection, there are however software workarounds to bypass that (which may or may not be illigal to use in your country).

yep, thats right. See here for more info (the HZ27WA is the same as the D model in this regard). Basically there are no scalers on the C model and so the added FRC stage is bypassed leaving you with a standard 8-bit output. The A and D models feature a FRC stage to offer 8-bit +FRC (ie "10-bit") support. Whether you'd then be able to use it is another question of course since a true 10-bit workflow is very difficult to achieve

cant comment on the 10bit vs 8bit

yes, the jump up from 1900x1200 is huge.. much bigger than i thought it would be , and im only talking about windows use...

i can assume quite safely that you would notice a similar huge difference in games

(at some point i will upgrade my graphics and get back in to gaming using this baby)

Yes I saw that on the review, but I also see that the WC 8bit version has no HDMI Cable and VGA Cable, the only connection it has is DVI

The WD has DVI, HDMI and VGA.

I currently have a 5970 but use DVI, I would like to use the HDMI function on the hazro, but just for the HDMI function there is a massive £162.00 difference !:eek: (Price change since this thread was opened)

Ps what would you go for? glass screen or standard matt? :confused:

can anyone confirm if there's any ghosting present with the WD version compared to the WC version during gaming? I'm tempted to go for the WD whilst its on offer for the extra connections and HDCP functionality but it there's significant ghosting i'll stick to the WC
 
pixel responsiveness was very comparable between both the A and C models. the D is just a replacement of the A model so should be the same as well :) the C model is just with fewer interfaces and lacking the scalers :)
 
Hi all, I know it's an old thread, but I found it from Google so my input might help some people.
I got the D when it was on this aforementioned special offer, and I can't say I've seen any ghosting. The monitor has performed flawlessly for months now and I've been enjoying playing Battlefield 3 on it very much. :D
Makes a huge difference over the previous 24" (1920x1080) monitor, a difference on the wallet too because you really do need the BEST graphics card you can afford to make the best of games at 2560x1440.
