HBM 2 specs for AMD Polaris and Nvidea Pascal from samsung

Peasant resolution? Who even says that? People who run 4K could also say the same thing about all resolutions below that, but we all know that would be a silly thing to say.

Spoken like a true 1080p peasant. Scoff.

Nah but seriously, 1080p is like, far and away the most popular resolution right now. You need some serious grunt to run reliably at 1440p. 1080p is by no means bad.

As the cards get faster the games will get more demanding, just as it always has, other wise we would be able to play everything maxed out on 5450. :)

If opterons are getting hbm that can be used as system memory. Then it might be worth getting an opteron for gaming.

All dat band with and low latency. Will be a bigger performance jump than DDR3-4

Yeah, one of the biggest games coming in the not too distant future is Star Citizen.

The level of Graphical quality in that once finalised is going to be at the level of high budget film CGI, and also truly massive, its going to need some very serious hardware to run it maxed out at 1440P let alone 4K.

Its already pretty visually stunning and demanding with most of the art and textures being temporary and place holders.

love this little test.

Star Citizen looks amazing. Can't wait to play it.

PC's are all about having your own personal rig, some want ultra smooth performance (as others mentioned, 144hz at 1080p) and some want the jitters but to have the eye candy (4k) but it's no big deal either way. I play console games a lot because it's more about gameplay than anything else but I'm holding off for 4k Freesynch with Polaris. I find 1440p a waste of time because I know 4k is coming so I may as well invest in it but it's just a simple mindset thing, if I was giving it real thought and being realistic then I'd probably realise 4k is just a pipe dream for another 2 or so years when it comes to having good performance and not having to turn down some of the settings just to maintain it.

1440p is viable too but I'm fine with 1080p at the moment.

You can play it now if you pledge. for that you get the Ship, the Hanger and access to the PU (Public Universe)

There isn't a lot to it yet, very early Alpha, but there are Alien swarms to shoot at, racing... those are in the Arena Commander and you get REC for playing them, with REC you borrow other ships and fittings for those and your own ship.

Other than that on the Live Universe you have Port Olisar, that has a small space world with a few things to do but really thats where you interact with other players live and and fly-about freely in your ship.

As they work on it more gets added to the game you have access to.

I'm normally not one for MMO's, i don't play them much and i spend 0 cash on them, this being the only acception, i have spend a small fortune on nicer ships and upgrades, i'm so freaking addicted to it. i think i need help. :o

This is the thing, GameWorks is most of the AAA games of late and even at 1080P, they need some grunt, so if you want all the settings maxed even at 1080P, you will need something big. This is where we need the big Pascal/Polaris and probably some fast HBM2 to keep it flowing nicely.

Check out my frames on a EVGA SC Titan X here at 1080P.

So yer, calling people fools for buying a 980Ti/Fury X for 1080P is very silly.

Whats with the hula hoop ?

:p
