HD 3800 Series gets a price drop

Probably as a response to the imminent launch of the 9600GT.

So does the HD3800 series maintain the best price/performance ratio or is the 9600 GT the new leader?

Yeah 9600 GT is released tomorrow.

Not good news for those who have already splashed out on the X2, if its getting reduced already.

The link doesnt say anything about the X2, it mentions the 3870 and 3850 models, the ones who are in direct competition with the 9600GT. My fault for not clarifying that in the original post!

Ahh i see, thought when it said the 3800's it meant the X2 as well, as they are part of the 3800 range.

Looks like just the single core cards as the 3870X2 won't be directly competing with the 9600.

ohh can;t wait to see the price of the 9600gt. is it going to be priced at 75-85 quid?? or is it gonna be a rip? only 1 day left to find out.

Tempting, I wont receive it until Friday, so will just wait and see what the drops look like by then. If they havent happened I will stick with it, if they have I can email it back under the 14 day long distance selling law!

I doubt we'll see the price drops here yet, especially not by Friday, says only USA on there first, probably take about a month before rip-off UK gets a price cut.

I have seen X2 dropping in prices all over the place.

Yep iv seen drops to GTX Style levels and im talking OEM GTX levels! If I wasnt going to Germany next week I would have ordered an X2 at the prices I've seen in heatbeat!

I was shocked at how cheap 3870X2's have become in only a few weeks. I have seen them cheaper then 2 of the average priced 3850's, which is kinda what you want really.
