The 5850 should handle the upcoming first generation of DirectX cards with ease. Beyond that, and without knowing your resolution, it gets harder to say.

About Crysis 2: Although crysis 2 is going on consoles, the engine is designed to scale up to (and probably way beyond) PC performance levels. So, I wouldn't be surprised to see the 5850 struggle at highest settings and resolutions - it just manages the first Crysis. That said, the new engine will benefit from learning how to scale performance down to console levels, so I wouldn't be surprised if it delivers equivalent or better quality, while being no more demanding than the current Crysis.

As said by gareth at 1280*1024 the 5850 will be able to run all games you throw at it for quite some time. I would consider the 5850 a bit of an overkill for such monitor.
