Hi everyone

just noticed the HIS on this week only offer for £168. I know these are acknowledged as great cards (plus can usually overclock really well) and seems a great price, but I just wondered if anyone uses a 7950 for 2560 * 1440 resolution gaming, and if so, what is performance like (my next purchase is likely to be one of these resolution monitors)

cheers

I use one, but at 2560x1080 (2,764,800 pixels). Performance is great (BF4, Crysis 3, TW:Rome2 are the only games I have that run below 60 fps on max settings).

2560x1440 is 3,686,400 pixels. I'd suggest that a 7950 wouldn't really be enough for that resolution.

Am running 1440 with an Asus 7950 Top - no problems.:)

Would observe that I do not bother about using all the highest settings all of the time !!

You can always buy a second if you find it underpowered although , given the noise levels that usually come with full load etc, probably best if you watercool.:)

I use mine at a (for now,) until I get a new monitor) lowly res or 1050.

I've had it a few weeks. Clocked at 1215 cor 1700 mem (from 880/1250) and already I want another to crossfire.

I've done a fair amount of googling now and in crossfire they are very very good.

One card is good, Im mostly playing farcry3 at the min and at max settings and 2x FSAA it will sit at 60 fps with vsync turned on but it does dip a little time to time.

Also tried the bf4 beta and that ran between 65-85 fps max settings

I want another card in there so I can go higher res and also turn up the FSAA

So if you can at all stretch, deffo try and get 2.

Jason.

I have to agree with above, I used one of those gpus for about a year and it was great tbh, handles games great, but as stated you cant just move all the sliders to the max, drop down you AA etc somwhat (and at higher resolutions the less aa you should need iI theory) and your sorted

1440P is fine on ultra BF3 with no AA with 7950.

I am now playing BF4 but can only run it in high mode 1440P (not ultra) so tomorrow I have a 780 arriving ! As has been said its good as long as you don't mind lowering the quality.
