Hello.. building one a pc for a friend.. i'm looking for a HD to store games and an OS on nothing to fancy..fast cheap HD will be nice..to put WoW ,black ops medal of honor on. :D

If the board supports RAID 0 I would go for this as you would get a faaast terrabyte for that money..

If it has to be just one drive, then this because you get a 5 year warranty.

They are both good solutions but even if you didn't RAID the top one, you get two decent drives for the money.

Just for the OS & Apps, with files being stored elsewhere? SSD it is then.

Back in the day when they were just released (man that makes me feel old!) I had a 74GB WD Raptor as the OS & Apps drive, and 300GB Seagate for files. 10,000RPM was a serious improvement.

These days it's a 80GB Intel G2 SSD for OS & Apps, and RAID1 WD Cavair Blacks for files.

Interesting that in neither of those setups have I felt cramped by only having a small C:\ drive.

Pah, 72GB was the newer one. I had four 36GB Raptors in Raid-0 when they first came out and everyone thought I was mad :D

To the OP - what motherboard do you intend fitting the drive to? A model number would be a lot of help here.

That's a good board and it supports RAID. Go for the two drives listed and set them up in RAID 0. Plenty of threads on here on how to set it up its not at all hard. You will get very fast disc performance and lots of space for £60 shipped which is a bargain.

Just have a look at the other RAID threads that pop up daily on this board.

Those RE2 drives aren't actually that good, It's a four year old model. Just get a single Samsung F3, It'll be faster, no hassle to set up, and much more reliable.
