HD full, can I split films into a new partition?

If I can free up some space then can I?
You cant simply "split" your films onto a new partition. The new partition will have to be empty when new. Once the partition is created you then simply copy and paste whatever you want into this new space.
As KIA said you need plenty of free space to do partitioning. The cleaner the HD the better, since yours is full there will still be fragmented files scattered right across the whole disk even if you have freed enough space for the partition itself. This is a problem because the partition needs a clean portion of the disk.
Personally, I'd leave partitioning for now and focus on getting more storage.
