Silly question here peeps, but I am curious how "safe" it is to store stuff on your harddrive - unplug it once its full and store it somewhere. A year later or so, u can go back, plug it in and find your stuff all intact.

What I'm asking basically, is the harddrive reliable enough so that u can use it to store your stuff while out of the computer - sitting on a shelf. It would mean less time burning dvds and making coasters, and the prices are dropping so its slowing becoming a vialble alternative to burning.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks for your help peeps, I think I might start looking into doing this because dvdr and DL are really .... crappy, just not doing the trick. Takes ages to burn, only to find that u got a coaster and even then u got tons of dvds everywhere. might be sensible to just store what you need on a harddrive then unplug and buy a new one.
