HD Noise

[Gremmers]

One of my hard drives is making a click noise every now and then. Its the same noise you get when the drive starts up. Is this telling me its on the way out?

My drives are:
Hitachi Deskstar 160gig (SATA, os and install files, 2 years old)
Seagate Barracuda 320gig (crappy IDE, music and films, 4-5 years old)

I'm guessing its the Seagate, wouldn't it be more obvious if there was something wrong with my os drive? As it is nothing changes only the rebooting drive noise.

Do a diagnostic. Download the UBCD and do a full scan using the manufacturers programs. Also, If you doubt the integrity, then backup now. Just in case

yea i would do a diagnostic as suggested and backup your data.

Might be worth checking the drive isn't being powered down by your power saving options before going through the rigmarole of diagnostics...
