I have a new WD 400 GB drive and yesterday when I got home from work and turned my PC on, the HD would start to spin up and then just power down. If I unplugged the power connector and plugged it back in while it was spinning down it would spin up again and then work perfectly in Windows until I powered down my PC!
Does it sound like the controller board on the HD is dieing? This is the third replacement from WD for this drive! They already sent me two DOAs!
Any ideas?
