Basically my setup is as follows:

160gb WD SATA C&D- Partitioned, with vista and XP Pro
320gb WD SATA F
320gb WD SATA G

These are all on the ICH8 controller of the DS3. Now say if I unzipped a folder from drive G to drive C my computer virtually dies. The file was 8gb in size. Basically my mouse jerks everywhere and the system becomes un responsive until the file has finished. My PC spec is:

DS3
E6300 @ 2.8
Geil 6400 Ultra @ 400 @ 55518
Xfi Fatality Pro
Samsung SATA DVDRW
8800GTX
Enermax Galaxy 850
Logitech G7
Logitech Ultra-X

Help :/ oh and I've changed the HD settings from SATA native to normal in the bios and it still does it.

The only thing I can think of that might be causing it is possibly your drivers for your sata controller, are they the most current version ?

Are there any other performance issues or is it just from G: to C: that's slow?

It sounds like something is grabbing all the CPU time so I'm wondering if it's the unzipping process or the disk writes, possibly a drive in PIO mode. Have you tried unzipping from G: to F: ?
