im looking to buy a HD camcorder which feature 25-30fps progressive filming for cinema like quality.

its for a project im working on with a mate.

ive looked at the canon HV20, but the price range is too expensive

the most im looking to pay is £200-250,

the cheaper the better.

any suggestions welcome. thank you

ps. default h264 format would be a big plus

own and use a sanyo HD1000 xacti, which does 720p 60fps which is progressive.

It does 1920x1080 also, but only 30fps (which technically isn't progressive I didn't think?)

checked it out. but i dont think its true progressive as the sanyo hd2000, which is out of my price range.

also hd1000 is abit outdated with still megapixel capture of 4 megapixel

although the mpeg4/h264 compressive formats is a plus

I honestly don't know but my understanding was progressive is 60 full frames and not 30 which gets interlaced up to 60, so at 720p gives you 60 full frames.

But not a subject I'm that up to speed on. As for still camera rating, just looked at mine and it produces an 8mp image when used Solely as a still camera, and 0.9 if a picture is taken whilst recording video. I don't think that's interpolated either, though could be wrong again.

There are other options - just want to make sure you have all the facts about this one first :)

EDIT: apparently it is interpolated, but is a good lens with apertures as wide as f1.8, built in nd filter and 10x optical zoom.

Blu-ray standard is 24p. The only reason you'd need 50fps to achieve progressive would be if it was recording interlaced and dumping half the frames to achieve a progressive effect.
