The sony D3000 supports 1080p signals I believe but they will be scaled down to 720p as its native resolution is 1366x768 which is stated on the sony centre link you have provided. Still appears to be a good screen though and well worth considering.

as above

its 1366 x 768 resolution. SO your PS3 or whatever will output 1920 x 1080 resolution, but the TV will change or "scale" it to fit.

if you want this years Sony 1080P set, the W3000 is due out in October.

I've also been looking at the Sony KDL40w2000 and the Samsung 40M87 and M86 range.

From what i've read they all use the same lcd pannel, i've also read reviews that faviour on over the other.

I'll probably purchase the Sony 40w2000 as I prefer the brand and the sounds is suposed to be a lot better than either of the Sammys.

Although the sammys do look nicer in terms of the design.

I'll be buying it online with some kind of pay 10% now and the rest in 9 months offer.

I won't be getting it from any of the big highstreet shops,

I've seen it online at about £1198 with a 3 year warranty and a Sony dvdrecorder thing included.

I'll probably order it on friday.

incorrect

Samsung M86 / M87 use the 1080P panel that will be found in this years Sony W3000.

Its 10 bit colour

the W2000 uses last years panel which is only 8 bit colour.

Oh and for what its worth, only the actual pysical panel itself is shared. All the drive circuitry etc.. is specific to samsung / sony

hence why the W3000 will officially support 24fps over bluray from the outset, wheras, despite using the same panel, the M86/m87 doesnt officially support it, and has to have it forced (ie you can let your TV detect it, as it will detect your TV doesnt support it)
