HD Reboot & Freeze?

Hey,
My system is getting pretty dated now, but still runs everything I use pretty well. I use it mostly as my DVR and media center. I've got two 36GB 10,000RPM Raptors (Raid 0) and an IDE WD 80GB HD running.

The problem only just started the other day, and seems to really get worse when I watch recorded TV, and sometimes not even show. I can hear from inside the PC that "loading" or "booting" sound hard drives have when they first boot up, and a second or two after they do so, the system freezes (completely, can't even get the "Num Lock" light on the keyboard to change). It stays frozen for maybe 10-20 seconds, and then returns to normal. This happens over and over at random intervals (or so it seems).

My first course of action would normally get inside, unplug the 80GB drive, and see if it goes away. I've been a bit lazy and just wanted to see if anyone knew of this problem or had some ideas before I get down to fixing it.
Thanks!

P.S. The OS (Win XP SP2) is on the raptors.

The exact same thing is happening to me.

It's very intermittent but sometimes my system is unusable because of the number of lockups. I hear what I can only describe as a (click) and everything locks, then after a short time the drive comes back to life.

Thoughts about my situation:-
1. The drive is on it's way out? (But hang on, this happened to another one of my drives a while back!)

2. I have a faulty PSU? (I've switched cables and it still happens to the same drive.)

To be honest I'm a little stumped but I'm going for the new PSU option first.

My fear is that they're going out. I'm not sure if the fact that they're two drives in RAID 0 makes any difference to how the freezing behaves, but it would really suck to lose my raptors... school is especially expensive atm so I'd be skrewed if I can't fix it.
I could try the PSU, but I don't see how it could really be that. It is the first part of any PC to fail, and this one isn't from my original build, so I guess it won't hurt to seek out a replacement.
