hd whipe problem

i am selling my old computer but it may have some card info on the hds and personal info i would not like someone to find is there anyway of completly clearing the drive as i know even after a whipe the info is still there so i want it gone forever un touchable

any free programs that do this ?

DBAN is one such program but there are others that do a similar job, the instructions about how to do it should all be on the webpage.
