I can't get any software to monitor/change temps or clock speeds. Using 2X 6 pin connectors, catalyst control center only gives options for changing performance related stuff.

Tried ATI tools, but it takes ages to load up and then seems to crash, displays clocks as 1.#?, and cannot do anything like search for artifacts as the software remains frozen and not responding.

PCwizard seems to switch off my PC ever since i doubled the RAM.

I would like some software which displays temps and clocks while gaming, my old X800gto came with a HIS onscreen display server which did exactly this.

On the plus side i can play Quake 4 and Doom 3 on Ultra with anti aliasing and Flight sim X is pretty sweet now aswell.

Has any-body else bought the hd2900xt and had similar problems with software like ATI tools and found a solution? Only got it 2 days ago but I would like some software which comprehensively displays temps and clocks.

Was also woundering if there is an adapter which can be pluged into a legacy port and the two unfilled pins on 8 pin slot on the Gcard which would allow me to use ati overdrive?

I can use AMD clock tool overclock now :p but it still doesn't seem to display temps  , downloaded FRAPS to monitor FPS in game, it also draws a graph on my G15 lcd which is nice, would still like to monitor temps in game though.

To display your temps, click on the thermal sensors tab and then click on ASIC temperature to highlight it, now check the enable reading box and start it, the value box is your current temp.

I just tried ATi tray and for some reason it showed my clock speeds as 14  so ive quickly uninstalled that, what im really trying to do is find a program that works the same as ccc so i can uninstall that to see if thats whats casuing my problem in enemy territory

Just uninstall it anyway and see if your problem persists. I all so wish tray tools was working with the 2900 so i can change AA and AF without the ccc. :(

Rivatuner can do real time recording of your temps in a game and you can drag back along timeline after you exit game to see how high temps got, or/and you can have it put a permanent (when its open) temp on the Notification area of taskbar but you wont see this in a game obv.

Also, has anyone else had any problems with 3Dmark06? Since i installed the 2900 3dmarks has refused to get past the detedting configuration screen.

Thanks RavenUK and Nullvoid, i will try your suggestions when i get home, at work at the mo.

Well known problem the 3D Mark one, you have to change the name of one of the .dll files to get it to work on the 2900's. :)

EDIT: here you go, C:WINDOWSsystem32FuturemarkMSC and rename the file "direcpll.dll" to anything you want as it hangs when trying to read the clocks otherwise.

you have to enable the AMD tool's temp monitoring, check out for it carefully.
its a small checkbutton to activate it.

The overdrive tab in catalyst control center is only accessible with 1 6pin and 1 6+2pin pcie connector connected to the gfx card.

Rivatuner is the muts nuts. It does everything I could want with the graphics card and more. It actually seems like the *HIS onscreen display server* is just rivatuner's static server renamed.

ATItool 0.27 also works as well. Only problem is when I run the Scan for artifacts it gets errors :( .
