HD3870 Crossfire Replacement????

hmm I would say get two HD4870 1Gbs (with the sapphire custom cooler) if you got a little extra I suppose you could get two HD4890s....still a little over kill through....ideal as a brag factor :P

.....ITS DONE....2x4890 1GB .....£400 but on the plus side my 1.5k bonus is technically paying for this although 'badger man' has taken £500 of that in tax, £500 in driving lessons & £100 on hookers ;)

Sorry but thats pointless, there's no logical explanation for it. :p

Even at 1280x you still get some gains from SLI with a couple of 260 cards... but its to the order of 40-50% nothing like the 70-90% you get from 1920x or higher resolutions... but if your an FPS junky and like a constant 100+fps for multiplayer games there may be a reason to do it...

Of which your monitor is only showing 60 fps?

Its not as simple as that... a lot of games are more responsive and you can get away without VSync with only minimal tearing if your keeping constant framerates of 100+fps... (no serious fps gamer would use VSync due to the input lag).

if u playing fsx buy nvidia card, but then u cant sli . i guess 4870 1 gig cf is best bang for the buc for you then and a hope that ati will improve performance in fsx

If your main game is FSX then its madness to be buying an ATI card... although unfortunatly the 200 series (not including the 250) doesn't seem to put up as good performance as the 8/9 series in FSX for some reason, and without an SLI board you couldn't run 2x 250GTS 1gig cards anyhow.
