HD4570 Hogging cpu/running slow

Hi Guys,

Any help would be much appreciated.

Im running Win XP SP3 on an AMDx64 3700 with 2.5GB RAM on a RAID 200GB mirrored set up. I have deleted the old drivers and wiped before installing new card and drivers then updated using the latest drivers from ATI.

The machine is much slower than before with an old ATI card and seems to struggle when using multiple windows in the Opera browser (equally so in IE8). Oh I forget to mention,the PSU is a 550W.

Im really stumped with this as its a replacement card as it was thought the 1st was faulty.

I forgot to mention its a Powercolor HD4670 with 1GB DDR3

Is there anything in task manager hogging all the CPU cycles?

Hi Monkeynut, CPU is idling at 70-88% using 292MB.

System Idle is taking quite a bit (as expected)but then its taskmgr.exe
