HD4850 and Cat8.6Hotfix AA/AF Settings In-game and in CCC

Hello,

I just got my HD4850 yesterday for CAD$209 (yay~) and it's just blazing fast. I moved on from X800 too, so the performance boost in just indescribable.

Question is as follows:

Now that I can turn up AA and AF, unlike on my previous X800, I've noticed the AA settings in CCC.

If I "uncheck" the box that says "use application settings" and force CCC to use, per se, 8xAA, and then ran CoD4 and selected 4xAA in-game, which setting would take precedence? Would it always run at 8xAA as per CCC?

Also, on a side note, I've noticed that if I used ATIOverclock in CCC, the primary monitor would start to flicker at a random interval. I've read in various forums with people having or not having similar problems. Is there a fix on top of this "hotfix" for this?

Thanks.

I think the general rule with the AA is, if the game has the setting, then you use it in there (with CCC set to the 'use application setting'), and if the game doesn't have AA settings, then you force it through the CCC. :)

but my question was, if I forced the AA settings on the CCC(i.e. always had it on 8x), what would happen to games with individual AA settings?

i turn off AA in CoD4 and force 8x through the CCC...because it only goes up to 4x in-game.

As for your question, I don't know :p

I ask this also, because a lot of review sites don't seem to mention the fact that they disabled AA on CCC or something like that. I just wonder if CCC takes precedence over in-game AA settings, and someone has it on FSAA 8x at all times without even realizing it, how that would affect the overall performance... Or am I just smoking crack without even knowing it..?

Normally CCC will override in game settings as that the point of having it in CCC.
But its not always as simple as that depending on the game.
Some times you must turn in game settings off.

Some times only some of the settings will override while others wont & you will need to mix between in game & CCC, GRID AA will not work at all if you try to set it from CCC.

But for most part CCC will override & work but its always best to use the in game settings first & use the CCC ProfileManager for each game that work with CCC override setting levels that are not available in the game
