Ill post this here as my post in general hardware got deleted. Am having problems with my HD4870 ( at least i beleive its this causing the problems) in my new titan vulcan system. It has no os installed and when i try to start the computer up i get no post beep, and 3 leds on the back of the gfx card continually flash, and fan speeds up and slows down in sync with the leds. Anyone any ideas as to the problem, have already tried removing replacing cables and tried the card in the second pci-e slot.

HD4870 LEDs

D1601 - Red LED On, shows critical temperature fault

D1602 - Red LED On, shows External power connector A was removed

D1603 - Red LED On, shows External power connector B was removed

D601 - Red LED On, shows critical Core power fault

At BOOT/POST, the card's fan will spin @ 100% for a short while and 3 of the 4 LEDs will light up for a brief period and then go out ( D601 should remain unlit ). This is NORMAL behaviour as the card is performing it's own type of POST test.

Any help? Do you have both power connectors plugged in?

both power connectors are plugged in, and the leds dont stay on they flash as if it is continually trying to POST. The cpu is overclocked (at least it should be havnt managed to boot up to check )

TBH if the system is new get it sent back to ocuk they should help you out, just ring tech support or systems support for help. I know it sounds like a cop out but it may be worth it in teh long run.

My vulcan came on wednesday and had the exact same issue, so just waiting for DHL to hopefully collect it today.

i had a similar problem with my 4870, and i religously checked the power connectors to my card, which as far as i could see were all plugged in nicely. After hours of scratching my head i noticed that the power connector on the PSU end of the cable was loose, fixing securely solved the problem.

is your PSU modular? if it is it might be worth having a check.

im having exactly the same problem with this. did you manage to get it sorted out. i thought these were meant to be tested at oc??????
not very well it seems

Same issue as you and the above, mine is currently on its way back to OcUK, if anyone figures out the problem please post, thanks :)

has any one tried resetting the cmos on their vulcan system, only thing i havnt tried yet, as i dont fancy having to overclock the system again if it suppose to be done already

i havent tried resetting it myself but iv thought about doing it myself. on the otherhand iv also paid for it to be done by overclockers.
i think its that or something shorting the mobo.
av u still got yours or have you returned it too?

is there actually anyone who has one working,? if so i might consider resetting cmos if i can then get assistance qith overclock

still have mine, sent a webnote yesterday but all they suggested was remove/replace gfx card, done that and every other component and still no luck. Only worry i have with resetting the bios is that a)ill have to re-overclock again (never done it before) and b) if it doesnt work will they remember to redo it if i send it back

I don't suppose anyone found the way to fix this as I'm about to send my Titan Vulcan back tomorrow for the exact same problem. I really don't want to unless I have to though as I already had to return it once as it came with the wrong graphics card the first time...

nutpiece.
i phoned up and eventually spoke to somebody about the problems and they suggested it is common that the hsf has become dislodgeg.
unclip both sides and gently prize off the processor and then put it back into its position. this sowrked for me (altho having other issues now)

hi, after 4 days of it seeming to work, i got a possible virus but also kept getting bsods.

it took about 2 days for me to eventually get an operating system reinstalled and to work. to achieve this iv had to reset the bios and run the pc at its lowest setting. so now iv a pc i paid to be overclocked to 3.5 working at 2.8ghz. it appears to be stable at the moment but im not holding my breath.
an email to oc hasnt had a reply so far, which is slightly dissapointing too
