As in title, just been reading up a bit about HDCP 2.2 and wondering is it somthing that I need to take into consideration if I want to watch 4k content on any new gear I purchase in the future, I only purchased a 4k capable HDMI 2.0 amp a few months ago and now I read that I might not be compatible with 4k content in the future which is a little disconcerting, what about people that have bought 4k TV's over the last couple of years?

Right so this hasn't been set in stone yet? Well whoever is trying to enforce this I really hope they take into consideration how much 4k hardware there is out there that isn't hdcp 2.2 compliant, imo it would have quite a negative impact on consumer confidence for future purchases, I'd be gutted if I can't play 4k blu-rays for example next year.

I was advised to wait on 4k monitor's and tv's until a time a standard has been reached, a graphics card can run it comfortably and large portions of tv content are being broadcast. Hdcp compliance is up in the air so until it's fixed hold your horses.

I think its like "HDCP 2.2 may be good enough" but im not 100% i work in the custom av industry but no one seems to care about 4k and i don't have time to be reading all the rubbish they put about it lol.
i think they are stuck with the chips either end of a plug, i dont think they can produce a reasonable sized chip?? (i read somewhere)

Way I understood it HDCP 2.2 is the final format for UHD copy right protection

This.

HDCP 2.2/HDMI 2.0a @ 4:4:4 is the set 4k format. If your amp doesn't support this, then you will need to upgrade.

For full atmos support you will need an 9.2 capable AVR.
