Hi guys

Just set up my new system and all is smooth. One problem though, i added an SSD as my boot drive and this all works fine. Today i tried adding a normal HDD (SATA 3) but Windows 7 wont see it for initialization. BIOS does see it (ASUS P67)

Do i need to change from AHCI mode or something?

Also, if i add the HDD before booting up, Windows gets stuck at the loading screen. I can still access the BIOS

EDIT: Just so you know yes i have checked disk management etc and device manager doesnt see it as a hard drisk either. Only see's my SSD

So im a step further. I booted into the BIOS with disk attached.
Then i disconnected it and booted Windows from my SSD. It booted fine
Then i connected the SATA cable (once windows had booted) again and this time it was seen in Device Manager. So i tried to rescan for hardware changes in disk management but this causes Windows 7 to just do nothing and Computer management freezes....

I reckon its a lack of drivers but seems im not able to update them Its missing volume information as well so no Master Boot Record...

And no, i cant hear the disk spinning which is a worry..

any more advise? Thanks for the ideas so far guys much appreciated. You should know its from my OLD PC but was only a storage drive on that one as well

Edit: Ginger Menace i will try that now and let you know :-)

Is the SSD set to be the first boot device (With both hard drives connected)?
If so, it should boot into windows.

Then into computer management to initialise and format it.
