Building another system, main use will be gaming, plus video editing and music.

Was going to get 2 x Samsung F1's or 2 x WD Caviar Black in raid.

Now I am thinking maybe a OCZ SSD 60gb for the OS with one of the above HDD's for storage. Or would I be better with 2 x OCZ SSD 30gb in raid?

I will be overclocking, and the mobo will prob be a Asus Rampage II x58. Are the sata connections locked to protect the drives?

I'd be wary about getting an OCZ solid state drive at this point. They use a controller supplied by the lowest bidder (JMicron), and it tells. Combine this with a lack of drive cache, and you could get severe stuttering problems, as well as a drive which performs worse than a bog standard 7200rpm. If you have a dedicated RAID card, that might solve the cache issue. (By the way, I have no personal experience of any of this, I'm just going by what other people have posted in the past)

However, I can very much recommend a raptor drive. I have a 150GB WD Velociraptor for my OS and games, and my boot-up times are fantastically low - about half of what they were before. Loading time for games is fantastic too. I can't wait to get another one and see how they'd perform in RAID.

So 2 sata II drives in raid is better for me then?

How long until we see some decent SSD's at an affordable price I wonder? Wont bother with the OCZ ones if there are so many problems with them.
