A while back I remember seeing a way of mounting HDDs using elastic bands or something so that vibration was reduced, sort of done by twisting the elastic round and securing but for the life of can't remember how it was done

Can anyone enlighten me please???

Cheers jbloggs that's exactly what I meant. You don't happen to know what the actual material is do you, or have a link to the site you got the images from (unless they're yours of course.

I've tried to google it but hard as I don't know how to describe it.

I used '4mm bungee cord', but it was a just a tad thick, so maybe try 3mm? I've also heard people singing the praises of 'stretch magic', but I've never used this stuff.

The last two pictures above are mine from my old rig. I just used sewing elastic and wrapped it round a couple of times. You might also want some extra pieces going over the ends of the drives to stop them slipping out.
