Am I being dim about Hard Disc ATA speeds?

Right, I have just run HDTune this morning and noticed that my WD SATA 400GB primary drive is able to support ATA133 transfer speeds, but is stuck at ATA100. I have had a good rumage in the BIOS of my IX38 Quad GT and cannot find any reference to an option to change the HD ATA speed!

It must be possible on a high end board with a 133 capable drive to run it at the higher transfer speed surely.

Help!

Yes you are;)

The IDE controller on the board supports IDE 133, do you have the device attached to the IDE controller with a SATA/IDE bridge?

I suspect that you have the disk connected to the SATA Port's. Intel never supported the ATA-133 stopping at ATA-100, so if your SATA is set to IDE Mode off the ICH9 then yes ATA-100 is what you will get reported as.

If you want to get the full benefit of your disks then run them in SATA/AHCI mode.
