Lovely Wolver-ampton!
Was copying some music and vid files onto my main drive. Half way through I get a CRC error. My drive has lost its name, and now says it's not formatted. Some of the files have copied, but the one file I need was a video from Ibiza we took on hols last year. I don't care about any other file, I just need this one back.

can anyone suggest some free recovery tools or some way of recovering this data?

I have a feeling my missus is gonna kill me if i dont get it bakc!!!!

if it appears to not be formatted then your ok as it's probably the allocation table that's buggerd.

You can get data recovery software that can recover from a formatted disk.
Basically when you format a disk in windows all it does is delete the Contents table. Everythign else is still there, it just doesn't know where to find it.
